With a business refocus to an app-first approach, 2021 was the year that the amaysim app finally got it’s deserved refresh and enhancement after being off-brand for so many years.
UI LEAD ON THE FOLLOWING PROJECTS:
SIM activation & onboarding
Being a telco, we really wanted to reinforce the use of a customer’s phone and reworked the activation and onboarding process onto the app. Working with the UX team, we created a simple and seamless flow and made sure any pain points during the process was addressed with supporting UI to reduce errors. The existing ID verification process saw a 32% fail rate due to customers entering the incorrect information, so we created custom UI animations for each type of ID to highlight what information was needed and where it was on the ID.
Unlimited data banking
To keep up with industry features, we released unlimited data banking - if a customer doesn’t use their allocated data allowance for the month, it rolls over for them to use the next month (and so on). Working with the UX team again, we checked every customer touch point that dealt with their data allowance to ensure any data banked would be easily recognisable and easy to understand what data type they were using, i.e. any bonus data we had given them, their usual data allowance, and then finally their data bank.
In-app messaging & push notifications
Working with the Apps team and CRM team - we upgraded the app’s capability and added in-app messaging & push notifications, allowing the CRM team another channel to communicate with the customers. The initiative aligned with the refocus onto the app, rather than the outdated website account management system that was being phased out.

Additionally with the 2021 brand refresh, the website received a much needed makeover to align with the new brand platform - Little SIM, Big Love.

Ranging from online videos for digital acquisition to internal brand content, I brought the skillset of video & motion graphics to the amaysim team. I had the opportunity to shape how the amaysim brand moved and felt over a few years, which was an exciting brand initiative for me.
THE MOST LOVED TELCO EVER?
Using stock video reminiscent of the hyperbolic, stereotypical scenes mostly seen in romantic films, coupled with real customer reviews, this series was a cheeky execution to highlight why amaysim customers loved us so much.
This campaign was used across YouTube pre-roll, non-skip online video ad placements, and social media.

2019 Wrapped
After being given some data to showcase to the company, my task was to create a retrospective story for the year of 2019 in a visually engaging way - in just two days.
Using the vibrant and bold colour palette, coupled with large typographic and infographic depictions of the data, I was able to create a morale-boosting and celebratory video for the company.

ACN x amaysim
Launching as ACN’s first provider to offer mobile pre-paid plans, this video was created to engage and excite the ACN network at their bi-annual conference. From script to storyboard, and then creation, the motion graphics video was a success and received great feedback from the organisers of ACN.

BEAT THE BILLS
Partnering with author of ‘Kill Bills’, Joel Gibson, we created a video series of money saving tips ranging from mortgages, health insurance, and in this instance, streaming services.

DIGITAL ACQUISITION
Every month, the offers for mobile plans would change to remain competitive in market. HTML5 banner ads coupled with social media placements would be created for these offer campaigns.

With a Retail division of the business, we had to design seasonal Point of Sale for upcoming offers in-store. Additionally, our SIM packs were also updated with these seasonal runs to keep them up to date with the most recent branding.
Whilst amaysim was a listed company, we took the design of the Annual Reports in-house. I lead the collaboration between the finance and investor relations team to produce the annual reports for 3 years until amaysim was bought.
