INSURWAVE case study:
design system
UI
opportunity/
challenge
After creating a Design System in Figma for the then current brand, the company underwent a rebrand, which meant that the Design System needed to be updated.
This gave me the opportunity to optimise how the design system was being set up and use the most recent capabilities of Figma for the components being used for our day to day working.
OLD DESIGN SYSTEM
ICONS
PROposed solution
There were a few Figma files that were being used to separate certain parts of the Design System, e.g. Icons and Logos, so I decided to consolidate these into the one master file, so that it was easier to maintain but also, easier to find as it would be in the one file.
There were also certain enhancements that were also being released in Figma, which allowed components to utilise Auto Layout more.
PROBLEM/
PAIN POINTS
With our iterative and incremental approach to feature releases, there was a concern that discoverability of information was decreasing.
After doing secondary research (Hotjar recordings), we realised that users were navigating the platform in circles (aka u-turns), especially in one of our most used features - Policy Management.
